SEA OAKS COUNTRY CLUB (609)296-2656
Atlantic City Golf Course Review
Sea Oaks Golf Club was designed by popular mid-western golf course architect Ray Hearn on more than 194 pristine acres of natural terrain in the pine barrens of southern New Jersey. The 6950 yard championship layout combines Hearn's critically acclaimed talent of integrating the natural context and inherent features of the region with a creative concept. With slopes ranging from 125 - 139 for men, and 127 - 136 for women, this enjoyable course will test the skills of scratch golfers and beginners alike. Those looking for accommodations or stay and play packages will be happy to know that Sea Oaks has lodging available at the Inn at Sea Oaks - on site! For more info, CLICK HERE.
Facilities include a 35,000 square foot clubhouse with views of Long Beach Island and Atlantic City's skyline, a putting course, stocked pro shop, two restaurants serving lunch and dinner, patio bar, expansive banquet facilities catering for 25 to 300 guests, and men's and women's lounges with lockers and showers. The pro shop features Top of the line equipment and apparel, name brand iron fitting systems, and accessories such as GPS tools and sunglasses. The Legacy Restaurant offers a wide variety of gourmet fare to fit any occasion, and the grill room hosts a lighter menu with daily specials in a more casual atmosphere.
Practice facilities were crafted with the same attention to detail as the course itself. Putting/chipping greens, sand bunkers, and a 325 yard deep driving range with generously portioned tee boxes (12,000 sq. ft. total) and 6 target greens which are surrounded by bunkers, are included to simulate on-course playing conditions. Private and group lessons are available and reasonably priced from $25 - $40 a session.
There are five sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6950 yards/139 slope, 6635 yards/136 slope, 6330 yards/129 slope, 6030 yards with a slope of 125 for men/136 for women, and 5150 yards with a slope of 127 for women playing from the forward tees. On course yardage marking includes color coded plaques in the middle of the fairway and cart paths from 100, 150, and 200 yards to center green as well as marked sprinkler heads. Green diagrams on all score cards provide daily pin placement information.
The layout is tree lined with rolling terrain, undulating fairways, and mounding around the putting surfaces. Green complexes are mildly undulating but large so pin placement will make a difference. With the exception of the holes with marsh areas, water hazards and waste bunkers, there is plenty of room for error on either side off the tees and near the greens. There are a total of 70 soft white sand bunkers, 16 large waist bunkers, and water comes into play on six holes - all on the back nine. Pay attention on the 10th hole - after nine holes with no water there is a large pond to the left of the 10th green which may not be visible from the approach.
The Inn at Sea Oaks is conveniently located across from the clubhouse with rooms that include high speed internet and cable TV. Suits feature additional accommodations with king sized beds and a relaxing Jacuzzi. For more detailed info on the course please visit our page for Sea Oaks Golf Club by clicking here.
