Atlantic City Golf Course Review
Mays Landing Golf & Country Club, located just a few minutes west of Atlantic City, is a 6633 yard par 72 championship course. This layout was constructed in 1962 and has been consistently improved and updated, including a variety of recent renovations enhancing overall length and playability. The course was designed by golf pioneer and past president of the PGA, Leo Fraser, to reflect his vision... that enjoyment is at the heart of the game and that great golf should be accessible to everyone.
The clubhouse features a Pro Shop complete with a Titleist Custom Fitting Center, a Grille Room, and the Fraser Room which can accommodate up to 175 guests for outings, banquets or weddings. The practice area includes a first-class short-game facility with bunkers, chipping areas and putting greens and golf instructions are provided by a full staff of PGA professionals for individual or group lessons.
Four sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 6633 yards/124 slope, 6251 yards/ 119 slope, 5448 yards/108 slope, and 5334 yards with a slope of 116 for women playing from the forward tees. As the scorecards indicate at Mays Landing, the course is not overwhelming with challenge and golfers of all skill levels have the chance to score below their handicap. There are only four par- 4's that play over 400 yards from the tips, providing scratch golfers with birdie opportunities from each tee.
On course yardages are posted on the fairways at 100, 150, 200 and 250 yards and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green. Color coded flags indicate the days front, middle or back hole locations. Golfers will encounter 42 sand bunkers and waste areas, and water hazards come into play on 7 of the holes.
The course has been rated 3 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play, and is considered to be one of the best golf values in the Atlantic City region.
