Atlantic City Golf Course Review
Atlantic City Country Club is recognized as the #1 daily fee golf course in the state of New Jersey, and provides visitors with over 100 years of golf history. As one of the oldest and most prestigious country clubs in the state, ACCC has become a sought-after destination for banquets, outings, reunions, fund raising events, corporate meetings and storybook weddings. Stay & play packages at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City are available. We highly recommend a stay here - for more info on Harrah's Resort - click here.
The banquet rooms open to a lovely terrace with panoramic views of the course's rolling fairways and the glittering Atlantic City skyline. An award winning culinary team customizes events with menus to suit both budget and any special dietary considerations, and the 111-year old Tap Room Bar & Grille is staffed with accommodating professionals specializing in top notch service. Full catering service and elegant ballrooms are available fro a variety of events.
The golf course is the shining jewel of the property however, with six major USGA Championships held here over the years. The first Intercollegiate Ivy League Championship was contested here in 1901 (won by Harvard), and Babe Zaharias won her first of three USGA Women's Open Championships in 1948. The inaugural Senior Tour events took place here in 1980, and the term "birdie" was born at the Atlantic City Country Club to represent a score under par.
Harry Varden, Babe Zaharias, Walter Travis, John McDermott, Walter Hagen, Arnold Palmer, and Nancy Lopez span the generations of famous players who walked the courses hollowed grounds. Atlantic City Country Club continues to maintain a standard of excellence with velvety fairways, large sloping green complexes protctd by deep sand bunkers, windswept sand waste areas, and golden heather accentuating the manicured conditions and spectacular scenery for which the course is known.
The extremely rolling tree-lined terrain is laced with fescue lined bunkers and presents numerous challenges with some significant carries over marshlands and natural areas. Several holes present wonderful views of the Atlantic City skyline, and the layout is quite secluded. Including the waste areas there are approximately 98 sand bunkers situated near the landing zones or greenside, and water comes into play in the form of ponds and salt marshes on nine holes
Three sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 6577 yards/128 slope, 6175 yards/124 slope, and 5349 yards with a slope of 125 for women playing from the forward tees. On course sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green - but as a traditional design, there is no standard pin placement system. Golfers will have to eyeball the hole locations on these true rolling outing surfaces. Our most memorable holes all included vistas of the pristine marshlands, with the par three 4th and 15th, plus par fours 16th being our favorites.
Visitors can enjoy the comprehensive practice facilities that include a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker plus putting green, with lessons of all types offered. The clubhouse features a pro shop, locker rooms with showers, and restaurant/lounge that serves lunch daily and dinner menus Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
